Witnesses, clues sought in fatal stabbing of 53-year-old man in Dothan

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in the fatal stabbing of a 53-year-old man in Dothan.

Police on July 20 responded to the intersection of West Powell and Linden Street on a report of a stabbing, said Lt. Scott Owens.

They arrived to find Damon Goodson in the roadway with a stab wound to his upper body.

Goodson was taken to the hospital in critical condition. After undergoing surgery, he was place on life support, Owens said, and died the following day.

Police are asking for anyone who has information about the crime or who had contact with Goodson in the 24 to 48 hours leading up to the stabbing to call investigators at 334-615-3632 or 334-793-0215.

“The Dothan Police Department remains committed to seeking justice for Damon Goodson,’’ Owens said. “When violent crime occurs and someone loses their life, we mourn with the family and community in their time of loss.  Our heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and support goes out to Damon Goodson’s family.”
