WWE grudges are taking on epic - some would say SEC - proportions.
On Monday, Bron Breakker went after WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn during “WWE Raw” by calling out Zayn ahead of their WWE SummerSlaum match.
“It’s time for the younger generation to get a chance,” Breakker said. “I’m gonna put it to you like this, man. You are the Kirby Smart to my Nick Saban, because you got lucky once, but it will never happen again.”
The analogy, of course, refers to Smart’s years as Saban’s defensive coordinator at Alabama before going on to Georgia where he beat Saban’s Tide for the 2021 national championship. It should be noted, however, Saban still holds a 5-1 record over Smart.
Breakker defeated Ilja Draungov on Monday’s Raw to become the new number one contender for the title, earning a title match against Sami Zayn for SummerSlam on Aug. 3. Zayn retained his title against Breakker in their Money in the Bank battle.
Breakker, for the record, knows a little something about college football. He played at Kennesaw State.
