This is an opinion cartoon.
Apologies to Snidely Whiplash, a relatively harmless cartoon villain known for tying cartoon damsels to railroad tracks. Little did he know he would be an inspiration for the modern-day MAGA Republican Party.
And thanks to Katie Britt for inspiring this cartoon by saying Trump can get America “back on track.” I took her words literally.
There has never been a more dangerous non-cartoony threat to women, minorities, the Constitution and American democracy than Trump’s second attempt at chaotic authoritarianism. And his wingman in making it happen, Project 2025.
In a nutshell, Project 2025 aims to give the next conservative Republican president - Trump, if all goes horribly wrong - unconstitutional authoritarian powers, based on Christian nationalism beliefs. Separation of church and state be damned.

From the BBC.com story: “Project 2025 was created by the Heritage Foundation think-tank and runs for nearly 900 pages.
“Led by former Trump administration officials, it calls for the sacking of thousands of civil servants, expanding the power of the president, dismantling the Department of Education, sweeping tax cuts, a ban on pornography, halting sales of the abortion pill, and a whole lot more.
“Heritage president Kevin Roberts further stoked the ire around Project 25 by raising the prospect of political violence during a podcast interview.
“We are in the process of the second American revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Mr Roberts told the War Room podcast, founded by Trump adviser Steve Bannon.”

Hell, Project 2025 is already in progress. Six Supreme Court Justices have been on board all along. They defied the Constitution by gifting their grifter former president immunity for any criminal acts committed as an “official act” of the office. No man or woman is above the law, says the Constitution. Except for Trump, especially if he wins the next election, says the MAGA Supreme Court.
Weird. No president in our nation’s history has ever begged for immunity. No president has ever had to. Except for the 34 felony convictions guy.

Project 2025 Christian nationalism ideas are being tested in red states like Alabama and Texas before they take it nationwide: Banning books, attacking librarians, banning abortion, banning IVF ... contraceptives are next. Forcing teachers to display the 10 commandments, defunding public schools to subsidize private Christian schools, replacing school counselors with untrained chaplains ... it’s all in the game plan. The “bloodless” revolution game plan.
Same game plan as the Taliban.
Thanks to my friend Don Morrison for also inspiring this railroad theme.
