Alabama football players can’t get to the facility before quarterback Jalen Milroe in the morning.
They’ve tried. Oh they’ve certainly tried. But he remains undefeated in getting to the facility first, if you ask his new coach Kalen DeBoer.
"There’s no one that’s going to beat him into the football facility from the players’ vantage point,” DeBoer said Wednesday. “He’s there 4:30, 5:00 for sure every single day.”
And Milroe makes the most of that time. DeBoer said his quarterback isn’t just there to punch in the clock.
“He’s done a great job being efficient, doing everything he can, whether it’s mentally, physically, to be ready for this fall,” DeBoer said.
Milroe is heading into his second season as the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide. He is expected to be a contender for the Heisman Trophy, now set to work with an offensive-minded head coach in DeBoer.
“He’s got a skill set that is special,” DeBoer said. “With his arm, he can make you pay and he can make the throws, and I think he’s continued to grow in that area, building confidence in himself, just tirelessly working with the receiving corps, actually all the skill players, just to be on the same page.”
DeBoer said Milroe is continuing to expand on his game with different throws. DeBoer noted how Milroe has been strong down the field with his passing but has worked on higher percentage throws.
