Nick Saban might be retired from coaching Alabama football, but the man who spent the last 17 years attending SEC Media Days isn’t done with the event just yet. Saban will be part of ESPN’s coverage of media days in Dallas this year, the network announced on Thursday.
Media days are scheduled to run Monday through next Thursday from the Omni Dallas Hotel. Alabama is set to spend its time in the spotlight on Wednesday, with Kalen DeBoer making his debut as the Crimson Tide’s head coach.
Saban’s role in ESPN’s telecasts from the event was not specified in the press release. His name was part of a list of commentators that also included Greg McElroy, Roman Harper, Paul Finebaum and Cole Cubelic among others.
Most of the company’s SEC Media Days coverage will take place on the SEC Network. According to the release, the network will host 49 hours of live studio programming throughout media days.
Saban retired from his job as Alabama’s head coach in January, having won six national titles in Tuscaloosa, along with a seventh from his time at LSU. He has remained in an advisory role at UA, along with his new gig working for ESPN.
He previously contributed to the network’s NFL Draft coverage. Saban will play a role on ESPN’s programming throughout the 2024 football season.
