Juvenile injured by gunfire in Center Point

An investigation is underway after a juvenile sustained a gunshot wound in Center Point.

The shooting happened shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Country View Terrace in Center Point.

Jefferson County sheriff’s officials said the juvenile was taken to Children’s of Alabama with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s spokesman Henry Irby did not yet have an exact age, but the said the victim is a teen.

Detectives are working to determine if the shooting was accidental or intentional.
