This is an opinion cartoon
President Joe Biden is a patriot. He will be remembered as an old school, broad-smiling-reach-across-the-aisle negotiator who always put his country first. Joe got stuff done.
After saving America from a gaslighting wanna-be-dictator who attacked our allies, sucked up to tyrants and incited violence in trying to overturn a fair election, Biden has served diligently as a no-drama, quietly successful back-to-normal president.
America had just gone through an abusive relationship. Biden brought a sigh of relief, decency and true patriotism back to the White House.
And then he had a disastrous debate performance. Against an old lying carnival barker/convicted felon who made absolutely no sense and never answered a question.

Here’s what I wrote after that debate:
“Biden has some pondering to do with his inner circle of family and confidantes. I believe he knows in his heart of hearts if he is capable of handling the daily rigors of the world’s most important job for another four years. The stakes are too high in this election. Biden has built a legacy of lifelong public service. I believe he will ultimately do what he thinks is best for the nation. Whatever that is.”

Biden has done what that other guy could never do: He put aside his own self-interests and put America first. Country over party. Country over ego.
Joe Biden stepped up. By stepping down. That’s hard to do.
Thanks for your service, man.
Rock on, Kamala Harris.
