The Huntsville Planning Commission is expected to give final boundary plat approval for more than 300 apartment units at its meeting at City Hall on Tuesday.
It is also expected to give final approval for the construction of more than 80 homes in the southeast part of the city which is undergoing fast growth.
Ridgehouse Apartments at Johns Landing is the largest apartment complex expected to get approval. The commission will vote on final boundary plat approval for 176 units to be built south of Plummer Road and west of Johns Road.
The complex is being developed by LR Huntsville Investors II, LLC. Johnson & Associates is the engineer.
The commission is also expected to vote on final boundary plat approval for the 143-unit Kirby Lane Homes (apartments) north of U.S. 72 West and west of Promenade Point.
It is being developed by Elmington Residential with Kimley-Horn-Croy as the engineer.
The commission will vote on final approval for 64 lots in phase four of the Natures Walk on the Flint, which is east of Old Big Cove Road and south of River Park Boulevard.
Lennar Homes of Alabama is the developer. Mullins, LLC, is the engineer.
Lennar Homes advertises Natures Walk on the Flint as a master-planned community. The website advertises three-bedroom homes for sale in the $330,000-$350,000 range and which are around 1,700-1,800 square feet.
Another 29 lots are up for final approval for the second phase of East Lakes at the Meadows, east of Old Highway 431 and south of Berkley Road.
Tennessee Valley Communities, LLC, is the developer. 2 The Point, Inc., is the engineer. Homes in the earlier phase of East Lakes at the Meadows on a local realty website advertise from the high $300,000s to $600,000 range and have three and four-bedroom options.
Residents in the Big Cove area have voiced concerns at previous commission meetings about new subdivisions in their area because of school overcrowding.
No public hearings for the two subdivisions will be held because the lots are up for final approval. That is also the case with the apartments.
But a public hearing will be held before the vote on preliminary approval for 49 lots for phase 14 of Midtowne on the Park, south of U.S. 72 West and west of Pegasus Drive.
The lots are being developed by Tennessee Valley Communities. 2 The Point, Inc. is the engineer.
Homes in previous phases are three to five-bedrooms and advertise from $450,000 to $800,000.
The commission is also expected to vote on preliminary approval for 44 lots for phase three of Nursery at Blue Spring south of Winchester Road and west of Blue Spring Road.
Stanley Developer, LLC, is the developer, with Mullins, LLC, the engineer.
The commission will also vote on the layout of 44 units at Primrose Place apartments west of South Memorial Parkway and south of Golf Road.
The Morrow Companies is the developer. Schoel Engineering is also involved with the development.
