A Tennessee Republican has filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris, citing her record on immigration and “breach of public trust” regarding President Joe Biden’s physical and mental health.

Congressman Andy Ogles has previously introduced articles against Harris regarding immigration and lack of border control but added clauses related to Biden after the president exited the 2024 race and endorsed Harris. Ogles said Harris had “willfully disregarded her oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and “ignored her responsibility to enforce the laws of the United States and protect the American people.”

“On her watch, every single town has become a border town. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have overdosed on illicit drugs brought across the southern border, and countless women and children have been raped and murdered,” Ogles said.

The filing also claims Harris failed to exercise her sworn duty to exercise the 25th Amendment to remove Biden when it became apparent that he was mentally and physically incapable of continuing to serve.”

Ogle’s initial filing, which also included impeachment efforts against Biden, failed to make it beyond its introduction, The Hill reported.

Citing a desire to unite his party, 81-year-old Biden quit the presidential race earlier this week but said in a Wednesday night Oval Office address he planned to finish his term. He has endorsed Harris who appears to be the likely Democratic nominee when the party meets in Chicago next month.
