Lauren Alaina is canceling shows after she announced on social media Wednesday to announce that her father, J.J. Suddeth, has died.

“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family. Thank you for your prayers and understanding. Pinky.”

Alaina was set to perform in Savannah, Georgia, on Thursday; Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Friday and at the Carowinds Summer Festival Series 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday.

“The American Idol” alum and her father, PEOPLE, were close and that he attended many of her concerts. It noted that, just a month ago, the 29-year-old shared a heartfelt Father’s Day message to Instagram.
