Readers overwhelmingly chose T.R. Miller to win the Class 3A state football championship this week in AL.com’s online poll.
AL.com picked reigning 2A champ Fyffe to win the title in its Monday preview of that classification.
However, 72 percent of the AL.com readers who voted picked Brent Hubbert’s Tigers to claim the crown. T.R. Miller, which drops from 4A to 3A this fall, was No. 3 in AL.com’s ranking of the top seven contenders for the title.

Hubbert returns Florida RB/LB commit Myles Johnson and Nathan Commander, a three-year starter at QB. Other top returnees include OL J.R. Jernigan, LBs Kavarius Bell and Terence Battles, DL C.J. Stanton and ATH Eli Hubbert. Top newcomers include ATH KJ Henderson, DL/OL Aidan Haecker, OL C.J. Gibson and DL Quaveon McCants.
Hubbert is 46-17 entering his sixth year at T.R. Miller and 229-58 in 24 years as a head coach overall.
Fyffe was second in reader voting with 16 percent. Thomasville was third.
T.R. Miller has won six state titles, the last coming in 2002.
