Alabama woman killed, 2 injured in roadside collision

A woman died when two vehicles left a Walker County roadway and crashed on Friday, state troopers said.

Melissa S. Parker, a 42-year-old from Dora, died when a Chevrolet Silverado struck the Toyota Tundra she was driving, according to a press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

“Prior to impact, both vehicles left the roadway, which resulted in the roadside crash,” said Brandon Bailey, a senior state trooper, in the release.

The crash happened at 12:35 p.m. on Horse Creek Boulevard near Singleton Road. The scene was about a mile west of Dora.

Jose S. Perez, the 34-year-old Bessemer man driving the Silverado, and a 31-year-old passenger, were injured and transported to Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, according to state troopers. Bailey said they were not wearing seatbelts.

Troopers said they are still investigating what happened.
