Alabama football lands commit from 4-star 2025 TE Kaleb Edwards

The talent continues to roll into Alabama football’s 2025 recruiting class. On Tuesday, Kalen DeBoer picked up a four-star commitment in his first full cycle as the Crimson Tide’s head coach.

Tight end Kaleb Edwards announced his pledge to UA on social media in conjunction with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports. Edwards plays his high school football at Oak Ridge in California.

He’s the first tight end commitment the Crimson Tide has picked up in the 2025 class. The 247Sports composite has him ranked as the No. 8 player at his position in the class, and the No. 159 prospect overall.

“He’s not just a hybrid big receiver but a legitimate tight end who can make plays in the passing game, both short, intermediate and down the field and is also an excellent in-line blocker as well, 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins wrote in his assessment of Edwards. “He has strong hands and does a nice job catching the ball through contact and can get easy separation down the field from linebackers and safeties. He runs well, has plenty of length and excellent body control.”

Edwards stands 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 240 pounds. According to Maxpreps, he caught 44 passes for 828 yards and seven touchdowns last season for Oak Ridge.

He became the 20th commitment in the class of 2025 for Alabama. With his announcement, UA’s group remained as the second-best class in the nation, behind only Ohio State, on the 247 composite.

Edwards became Alabama’s second commitment in a week from California, joining Mission Viejo cornerback Dijon Lee.

He chose Alabama over a top six that included Auburn, Oregon, Texas, UCLA and Washington.
