Alabama football saw two decommitments on Wednesday from its 2025 recruiting class. Both linebacker Miles Johnson and athlete Zymear Smith both announced they are reopening their recruitments.
Smith is a four-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Johnson is listed as a three-star.
Smith, who plays his high school football at North Caroline in Maryland, committed to Alabama in March, but recently took an official visit to Maryland. The 247 composite ranks him as the No. 12 athlete in the class.
Johnson plays his high school ball at T.R. Miller in Brewton. He had committed to UA in October, when Nick Saban was still the Crimson Tide’s head coach before Kalen DeBoer took over the role.
The 247 Composite ranked Johnson as the No. 51 linebacker in the 2025 class. He holds other offers from the likes of Florida, Liberty and Mississippi State.
Alabama had picked up two commitments earlier in the day on Wednesday. Four-star Ohio edge Justin Hill announced his pledge first, with the Tide beating out Ohio State, Oregon and Southern Cal.
Later on, kicker Peter Notaro announced his commitment as well. Kohl’s Professional Camps ranks him as the No. 4 kicker in the 2025 class.
Even after the decommitments, Alabama’s class remained ranked No. 2 nationally according to the 247 composite. The Crimson Tide sits behind Ohio State.
