18-year-old charged with capital murder in Montgomery shooting during theft of rifle

A Montgomery teen has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of another man during a robbery.

My’Quan Shyki Morris, 18, is charged in the July 16 slaying 20-year-old Kavone Mosquera, according to court records made public Monday.

Police and fire medics were dispatched at 12:35 a.m. that Tuesday to a report of people shot in the 3200 block of Covered Bridge Road.

Mosquera was dead on the scene at 12:47 a.m.  A second shooting victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to charging documents against Morris, the shooting happened when Morris was in the process of committing the theft of a rifle.

Morris was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Friday and remains held without bond.
